Design Review No. 23-031

The proposed Fire District Administration East Annex Building is a two-story municipal building with offices located on both floors and a parking area on the ground floor.  The vehicle entrance and exit that provides access to the ground floor parking area is located on the southwest portion of the building.

The building will provide office space for City staff and San Bernardino Fire Department staff as well as both public and employee parking for the Civic Center Campus.  The first floor of the new building will include the parking area along with approximately 1,500 square feet of office space and the second floor will include approximately 28,000 square feet of office space. Proposed on-site improvements will include new landscaping, lighting, and 55 parking spaces to be located on the first floor.  The proposed replacement of the Fire District Administration East Annex Building will remove 22 existing parking stalls and add 55 new parking spaces on the first floor, which will result in a net increase of 33 new parking spaces to the project site.

The building is designed with metal/composite panels, smooth cement plaster finish, black mullions, recessed windows decorated with metal sunshades, elevated rooflines, metal canopy over the entry way, and a variety of earthtone colors will add structural and visual interest to the modern styled building.  Additionally, variations to the building face and roof lines, with taller roof elements proposed with a maximum height of 38 feet will be architecturally pleasing and be consistent with the surrounding buildings at City Hall.
