Adopt a Resolution to Authorize the City Manager to Award Contract to Custom Craft Flooring of La Verne, California for the Emergency Flooring Repair Work at the Fontana Senior Center

RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
1. Adopt Resolution No 2024-002, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Fontana, recognizing that certain conditions exist with the flooring of the Senior Center requiring emergency repair work. This resolution is made in accordance with Fontana City Code Sec.10-147(a)(6).
2. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute a contract with Custom Craft Flooring in the amount of $214,700 with a 10% contingency in the amount of $21,470 for the performance of emergency flooring repair work at the Fontana Senior Center.

COUNCIL GOALS:
• To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.
DISCUSSION:
The existing flooring at the Fontana Senior Center is in desperate need of replacement. There are numerous areas where the flooring is lifting due to moisture intrusion presenting slip, trip, and fall hazards for the users of the facility.
The proposal for this work from Custom Craft Flooring will include the removal of the existing flooring. Once the areas are completely dried out, the contractor will install new flooring throughout the entire first floor of the Fontana Senior Center.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact associated with the approval of the item is $214,700 plus a $21,470 contingency. Sufficient funds for this project are budgeted in the current FY 2023/2024 budget in Fund 103, more specifically ORG 10337317-8130.
