SUBJECT:
Contract with Serviam by Wright LLP to serve as City Prosecutor
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve a contract with Serviam by Wright LLP (formerly known as Silver & Wright) and authorize the City Manager to execute contract.
COUNCIL GOALS:
• To improve public safety by increasing operational efficiency, visibility and availability.
DISCUSSION:
The Code Compliance Division would like to use Serviam by Wright LLP (Formerly known as Silver & Wright) as its city prosecutor. In the past few years, we have used Silver & Wright for receivership action; however, we would like to continue to use them as our city prosecutor as well.
The accompanying contract provides that the firm, Serviam by Wright LLP, will provide legal services to the City.
The proposed hourly rates of Serviam by Wright LLP are:
Associate attorneys and lawyer services $197/hr
All partner and of counsel attorney services $248/hr
All other matters-Legal services $238/hr
Paralegals, law clerk and other paraprofessional services $139/hr
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact associated with the approval of this item is based upon actual time and materials spent on legal services at the rates stated above and is included in the current 2023-24 budget in account 21050100-8110. Expenditures shall not exceed available budget.
