DISCUSSION:

The Fontana Fire Protection District has installed the Fire Station Alerting System at the District’s other fire stations and Westnet Inc. will install the new system at Fire Station No. 73.  The fire station protects the City of Fontana and unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County, including the California Speedway. The station is one of only two on-duty Hazardous Material Response Teams in the County, responding to hazmat calls throughout the County and assisting surrounding communities and departments as needed.

The Fire Station Alerting System is a zoned notification system utilizing a series of remote alerting modules placed strategically throughout the fire station to notify fire and EMS personnel of an emergency call in the quickest, safest and most advance means possible. The system has been effective in reducing on-scene response times, improving firefighter safety, enhancing efficiency of operations, and providing critical information to responding crews.

Per the City’s Purchasing Policies and Procedures Manual, Section 3.1.5 Non-Competitive Proposal may be used when a product is being purchased under a cooperative purchasing agreement.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The fiscal impact associated with the approval of this item is $101,822.17 and funds are currently available in FY 2023/2024 budget (21050000-8318).
