RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
1. Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 1 to the Interior Renovation for Stage RED Contract (DE-24-25-SB) in the amount of $325,000 for a total contract of $1,900,000.
2. Approve budget adjustments to increase appropriation in the amount of $325,000 in Fund 601 Project No. 37300002.

COUNCIL GOALS:

DISCUSSION:
The City of Fontana has undertaken an expansive and comprehensive revitalization of Downtown Fontana. A primary component of this revitalization effort will be creating an entertainment district as a draw for consumers to enjoy as they discover the new downtown area. Stage Red is the keystone to the creation of this new entertainment district for the city.
Final Touch Construction was awarded the contract on April 9, 2024, in the amount of $1,575,000 for the Interior Renovation for Stage RED.
Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $325,000 covers contractor’s costs related to plan revisions to improve the functionality of the operation, material delivery delays, and overtime costs related to the above to meet the tight construction schedule.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact associated with the approval of this item is $325,000. Funding for this project is available in the 2023-24 Current Budget in the amount of $1,575,000 in Fund 601 Project No. 37300002. An additional $325,000 is requested in this item to fund the change order and will also be included in the 2023-24 Fourth Quarter Budget Report.
