DISCUSSION:

On January 23, 2024, the City Council authorized the award of a construction contract to the lowest responsible/responsive bidder, Matich Corporation, in the amount of $1,647,818.00 with a 10% contingency in the amount of $164,781.80 for the Sierra Lakes Pavement Rehabilitation Project (#37604130).  The proposed improvements for the Sierra Lakes Pavement Rehabilitation Project consisted of 2” mill and overlay and ADA curb ramp upgrades.  The project will ultimately prolong the life of the streets within the project limits and brought our ADA curb ramps up to code.

Matich Corporation completed the project on May 24, 2024.  The project was successfully completed for the final amount of $1,739,832.49, an increase of 5.6% from the original contract amount of $1,647,818.00 and $72,767.31 under the total authorized budget.  All work has been completed to the satisfaction of the City of Fontana.

FISCAL IMPACT:

As part of the action to accept the construction of the Sierra Lakes Pavement Rehabilitation Project (#37604130) as complete, the City will take over the operation and maintenance of this public infrastructure.  Appropriate funding for the maintenance work is included in the FY 2024-25 budget under the Public Works & Engineering Department, Utilities and Streets Division.
