RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Adopt Resolution No. 2024-126 of the City Council of the City of Fontana, California, reciting the fact of the General Municipal Election consolidated with the Statewide General Election held on November 5, 2024, declaring the results and such other matters as provided by law, and adopting Ordinance No. 1962 as it pertains to Measure T.

DISCUSSION:
A General Municipal Election was held in the City of Fontana, California, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, for the election of two members of the City Council (from Districts 2 and 3) and for City voters to consider a general tax ballot measure (Measure T).
As a result of the election, the following candidates were elected:
• Peter A. Garcia for City Council representing District 2 for a term of four years;
• Jesus “Jesse” Sandoval for City Council representing District 3 for a term of four years.
Further, a majority of City voters did approve Measure T and it was, therefore, passed. Pursuant to Elections Code section 9217, Ordinance No. 1962 adding Article XI to Chapter 10 of the Fontana Municipal Code to enact a one percent (1%) General Transactions and Use tax (Sales Tax) shall be deemed adopted upon Certification of the Election where the majority of the eligible voters of the City of Fontana vote in favor, and shall take effect ten (10) days thereafter. Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the Resolution reciting the fact of the General Municipal Election as it pertains to Measure T, thereby adopting Ordinance No. 1962.
