COUNCIL GOALS:

•                     To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.

DISCUSSION:

The Public Works & Engineering Department, Parks and Landscape Division (“Division”) is responsible for maintaining parking lot and field lighting at City facilities.

Due to a recent wire theft incident at the Senior Community Center, the parking lot lighting is no longer functional. The Division received a quote from the on-call contractor, AZE Electric Inc., estimating the repair cost at $25,000 with a 10% contingency. Staff has determined that the quote provided by AZE Electric Inc. is reasonable.

Since the Division does not have sufficient funds to complete the repair, we recommend allowing the Deputy City Manager to approve a purchase order for $25,000 with a 10% contingency.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The total fiscal impact for this item is $27,500 to be appropriated from available fund balance in the General Fund 101. The associated adjustments will be included in the next Quarterly Budget Adjustment Report.

MOTION:

Approve staff recommendation.
