Recommendation
Accept as complete the work performed by Ace Capital Engineering for the replacement of the precast entry steps at the Fontana Lewis Library.

COUNCIL GOALS:
• Invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.
DISCUSSION:
On September 10, 2024, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Ace Capital Engineering for the Fontana Lewis Library & Technology Center Entry Precast Stair Replacement Project (PW-24-227-SB) in the amount of $123,158.20. There was one (1) contract change order during the project in the amount of $9,098.07 to address additional work required on the step foundation. The modifications were necessary to ensure consistency and proper alignment prior to the installation of the pre-cast steps. Ace Capital Engineering completed the project on August 29, 2025. All work has been completed to the satisfaction of the City for a final amount of $132,256.27.
The retention money will be released to the contractor thirty-five (35) days after the filing of the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder’s Office if no claims are filed with the City within this period.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the approval of this item, the total cost of the precast stair replacement, however, was $132,256.27 and the funds were budgeted in the in the FY 2024/25 budget, in the Lewis Library Step Project No. 37300004-103-A-8329.
