RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
1. Approve and authorize the City Manager to enter into Amendment No. 1 to the Main Extension Contract with San Gabriel Valley Water Company in the amount of $195,000.00.
2. Approve and authorize the City Manager to enter into future Amendments to the Main Extension Contract with San Gabriel Valley Water Company not to exceed $100,000.00.

COUNCIL GOALS:

DISCUSSION:
On February 6, 2024, the Fontana Planning Commission approved MCN 22-137 for the construction of Fire Station 80, a 14,663 SF fire station, a 4,193 SF training center, and a 7,000 SF training tower on the northeast corner of Cherry Avenue and South Highland Avenue. To properly service the site with water, San Gabriel Valley Water Company (SGVWC) requested the execution of the Main Extension Contract to extend mainline water facilities from San Sevaine Road along South Highland Avenue.
On September 10, 2024, the City Council approved the Main Extension Contract with SGVWC. The proposed mainline extension improvements will consist of the installation of the extension of the main line pipe, one (1) fire hydrant, landscape service, domestic service, and fire service. The total estimated construction cost for these improvements was $1,721,240.00.
Amendment No. 1, in the amount of $195,000.00, includes additional items such as overhead, inspection services, and contingency. The agreed amount of Amendment No. 1 increases the total estimated construction cost to $1,916,240.00. Any amount not used during construction will be credited back to the City.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact associated with the approval of this item is $195,000.00 and is included in the current FY 2026/2027 Budget in Fire Station No. 80 Project No. 37603385-610-A-8335.
