Acceptance of Fontana’s Downtown Revitalization Grant

RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
1. Accept grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $850,000 for Fontana’s Downtown Revitalization.
2. Authorize the City Manager, or City Manager’s designee, to execute and transmit any documents necessary or desirable to ensure the City’s timely submittal and execution of the Community Project Funding (CPF).

COUNCIL GOALS:
• Concentrate on Inter-governmental relations by pursuing financial participation from county, state and federal governments.
• Invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Fontana’s commitment to the Downtown Revitalization is a major mixed-use endeavor designated to increase housing, jobs, and entertainment options in the City’s fast-growing central business district.
This generous $850,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, signifies a significant step forward in the city’s commitment to honoring its past while building a brighter future.
The $850,000 will be used for the construction and planning of early projects in the downtown revitalization plan.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this item will increase revenue in the amount of $850,000 in Grant fund, 301 and appropriate the following expenditures:
$635,000 Project 37600078 Downtown Façade and Tenant TI Improvements
$150,000 Project 37100001 Downtown Parking Improvements
$65,000 ORG 30126210 Downtown Security Cameras
This item is included in the FY 2024-25 budget. The required budget adjustments necessary for this item were included as part of the Mid-Year Budget Report.
