COUNCIL GOALS:

To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.

To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by providing for the development of new infrastructure.

DISCUSSION:

On June 2, 2020, the City of Fontana Planning Commission approved MCN No. 15-078 and Design Review No. 16-003 to consolidate twelve parcels into two parcels and a remainder parcel, totaling approximately 83 acres for the development of a new commerce building totaling approximately 1,171,788 square feet. To adhere to the Conditions of Approval, the developer is constructing storm drain improvements along Coyote Canyon Road (formerly Lytle Creek Road) near Sierra Avenue.

As part of the project’s storm drain improvements, the developer designed riprap to mitigate flows within the SCE area. Consequently, the developer must obtain an easement from SCE and secure California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approval for these improvements to enable City maintenance.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact associated with approving a Rip-Rap Maintenance Easement.  Funding for the maintenance work is included in the FY 2025-2026 budget under the Public Works & Engineering Department, Utilities and Streets Division.

MOTION:

Approve staff recommendation.
