RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Approve an ABC Grant in the amount of $27,080.00 to increase the department’s proactive efforts of ABC education and enforcement. The funding will be used for the current employee’s salary and operation.
Authorize the Chief of Police to sign the agreement between the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and the Fontana Police Department for the total amount of $27,080.00.
Approve the expenditure plan for the use of the funds to help offset the cost of personnel within the Police Department.

DISCUSSION:
The Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has awarded the Fontana Police Department a grant in the amount of $27,080.00. Funds will be used to implement Minor Decoy operations, Shoulder Tap operations, general enforcement operations, IMPACT operations, task force operations, and undercover operations at various locations. Officers assigned to grant will conduct operations during off-duty hours and to be paid overtime based on policy. The grant operations will be conducted July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
Due to the grant performance period, staff is requesting the necessary budget adjustments with approval of this item and outside of the normal quarterly process to ensure the timely use of all grant funds
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this item will increase revenues and expenditures in the amount of $27,080.00; in grant fund 301 (40100005-301-A) and is not included in the 2025-26 adopted budget. The necessary budget adjustments will be included in the First Quarter Budget Status Report.
