COUNCIL GOALS:

•                     Invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.

DISCUSSION:

The Public Works Department is charged with operations and maintenance of over 465 miles of Sanitary Sewer Collection System. As part of the City’s sewer system, we maintain seven (7) sewer lift stations throughout the City. Tamarind and Industry Lift Stations have operated with the original equipment since 1986. These two stations are the last of the seven (7) stations to be upgraded to our new pump system and will also be integrated with our newly operational SCADA monitoring system.

On November 14, 2023, the City awarded a contract in the amount of $4,609,361.00 to SCW Contracting Corporation for the Tamarind and Industry Pump Station Improvement Project - Bid No. SB-148-PW-23. The final contract amount is $4,645,797.00. One contract change order was issued as part of the project, totaling $36,436.00. This included $28,370.00 for the Industry Lift Station and $8,066.00 for the Tamarind Lift Station. The change order was necessary to address unforeseen site conditions at both locations. Additional concrete and asphalt were required to provide proper drainage and ensure the completed improvements functioned as intended.

SCW Contracting Corporation has completed all work to the satisfaction of the City.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact associated with the approval of this item. The total cost of the project is $4,645,797.00 and the funds were budgeted in 37104335-703-A and 37104334-703-A.
