Accept grant award from Kaiser Permanente in the amount of $14,000 for use towards Healthy Fontana’s “The Awareness Project.”

COUNCIL GOALS:
• To operate in a businesslike manner by becoming more service oriented.
• To invest in the city's infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by creating and promoting community through people, parks, and programs.
• To increase citizen involvement by seeking community input.
DISCUSSION:
The City’s Healthy Fontana Program received a grant from Kaiser Permanente as part of their Community Health Contributions Program to focus on supporting efforts to improve the community and social support system's knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions about mental health, trauma, and resilience. The program was granted $14,000 to conduct activity around the focus area of mental and behavioral health through various activities in 2022.
“The Awareness Project” has three (3) main objectives:
• Provide mental health awareness education to students participating in the City's Fontana Expanded Learning Program (after-school)
• Host workshops that link gardening to mental health in conjunction with the City's Community Garden
• Create a Public Service Announcement around mental health to raise awareness and reduce stigma
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $14,000 was deposited into account 101.3511 for use in off-setting costs for “The Awareness Project.”
