RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Accept as complete the work performed by AMPCO Contracting Inc. for the Demolition Project (PW-25-84-SB) of 16803 Spring Street and approve the final amount of $147,135.00.

COUNCIL GOALS:

  • Invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by providing for the development of new infrastructure.

 

DISCUSSION:

On February 25, 2025, the City Council awarded the demolition contract to AMPCO Contracting Inc. for the Demolition Project (PW-25-84-SB) in the amount of $147,135.00.  AMPCO Contracting Inc. completed the project on May 09, 2025.  All work has been completed to the satisfaction of the City for the final amount of $147,135.00.  This project was necessary as part of the ongoing revitalization efforts for the downtown Fontana.

 

The retention money will be released to the contractor thirty-five (35) days after the filing of the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder’s Office if no claims are filed with the City within this period.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact associated with the approval of this item, the total cost of the demolition, however, was $147,135.00 and the funds were budgeted in FY 2024/25 in the Professional Services Budget 60230000-8130.
