COUNCIL GOALS:

•                     To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.

•                     To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by providing for the development of new infrastructure.

•                     To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by creating and promoting community through people, parks, and programs.

DISCUSSION:

As part of the 2023 Parks, Recreation & Trails Master Plan, Seville Park was identified as a city park with opportunities for upgrades and revitalization.  The park encompasses 13 acres with current amenities including lighted full court basketball court, group picnic structure, picnic tables, benches, playground structure, lawn, access to the PE Trail, on-site parking, and a restroom building.  In working with the community, staff will incorporate new amenities identified into the park revitalization design.

The State of California Department of Parks and Recreation administers the Statewide Development and Community Revitalization Program and the City will request $8.5 Million for the construction of the Seville Park Improvements.

If the City is successful and is awarded the grant, no match from City funds will be required.  City staff is requesting authority to move forward with applying for the grant for the construction of improvements that will be designed for Seville Park once community input is received.
