RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Authorize the City Manager to approve Change Order No. 4 with California Professional Engineering in the amount of $11,601.30 for the construction of the Citrus Avenue at Chase Road Traffic Signal Project (SB-08-DE-22).

COUNCIL GOALS:

                     To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.

                     To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by providing for the development of new infrastructure.

                     To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by focusing on relief of traffic congestion.

                     To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by utilizing Measure-I Funds wisely.

 

DISCUSSION:

On September 13, 2022, the City Council awarded a construction contract to California Professional Engineering in the amount of $713,980.00 and authorized a contingency amount of $71,398.00 for a total contract authorization of $785,378.00 for the construction of the Citrus Avenue at Chase Road Traffic Signal Project. 

 

On September 24, 2024, the Council authorized Change Order No. 3 in the amount of $58,856.82 for unforeseen conditions related to conduit installation, striping and signage for a total contract authorization of $823,377.18.

 

With the acceptance of construction, additional quantities were determined to have been completed for asphalt paving for the project.  The total change order cost for the project is $120,998.48 necessitating an additional authorization of $11,601.30 for contract Change Order No. 4 related to additional asphalt quantities.  The approval of this item will increase the total contract amount to $834,978.48.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The fiscal impact related to this is $11,601.30, which is included in the FY 2024-2025 available budget in 37603384-246-A-8330 from the Measure I Local Funds. 

 

MOTION:

Approve staff recommendation.
