COUNCIL GOALS:

                     To invest in the city's infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.

                     To invest in the city's infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by providing for the development of new infrastructure.

DISCUSSION:

On December 10, 2019, the City of Fontana (City) approved a Development Impact Fees (DIF) Update Study and adapted Resolution No. 2019-158 updating several DIF amounts and fee criteria.  The Resolution provided that DIF may be adjusted annually by Resolution of the City Council.  Staff has evaluated the relevant DIF and recommends that the fees be adjusted as authorized by Resolution No. 2019-158, Section 4.  Per attached Resolution, the DIF increases are based on the California Construction Cost Index (CCCI) for the preceding 12 months.  The CCCI for the year 2020 was 2.8% increase. 

The staff recommends an effective date of March 1, 2022 for the adjusted DIF. 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Development Impact Fees will increase 2.8% per the 2020 California Construction Cost Index.
