RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Award bid (PW-25-84-SB) and Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with AMPCO Contracting Inc. of Irvine, CA in the amount of $147,135 for the Demolition of 16803 Spring Street and authorize a 10% contingency in the amount of $14,714.

COUNCIL GOALS:
• Invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by providing for the development of new infrastructure.
DISCUSSION:
The building located at 16803 Spring Street was acquired by the City of Fontana in 2024. As part of the ongoing revitalization efforts for downtown Fontana, the structure will be demolished. The bidding process for 16803 Spring Street Bid (PW-25-84-SB) was conducted by city staff in December of 2024. One hundred ninety-five (195) bidders were notified of the bid. Bid packets were downloaded by forty (40) vendors. Seven (7) Fontana vendors were notified. One (1) Fontana vendor response was received. One (1) vendor withdrew their bid response. The bid closed on January 16, 2025 and the City received a total of ten (10) bids.
After reviewing each individual company that provided a bid for the project, the Purchasing Office has recommended that the contract be awarded to AMPCO Contracting Inc. of Irvine, CA. AMPCO Contracting Inc. submitted all the necessary documents and therefore is the most responsible and responsive bidder.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total fiscal impact associated with the approval of this item is $161,849 and is not included in the 2024-25 Current Budget. This request has been included in the 2024/25 Mid-Year Budget Report, specifically in 60230000-8130.
