Recommendation

Accept as complete the work performed by On Demand Contractors, Inc. for the ARPA -Fiber to City Parks Project (#37200006 and #37200007).

COUNCIL GOALS:

  • To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by maintaining and improving the city's existing infrastructure.
  • To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by providing for the development of new infrastructure.

 

DISCUSSION:

On July 23, 2024, the City Council authorized the award of a construction contract to the lowest responsible/responsive bidder (On Demand Contractors, Inc.) in the amount of $376,200.00 with a 10% contingency in the amount of $37,620.00 for the County ARPA – Fiber to City Parks Project (#37200006 and #37200007). The improvements consisted of installing new conduit and fiber optic cable in specific areas of the City to connect Veterans Park and Jack Bulik Park to our central Police Station, Traffic Management Center (TMC), and Innovation and Technology programs and systems.

 

On Demand Contractors, Inc. completed the construction of the project on May 8, 2025. The project was successfully completed for the final contract amount of $364,580.00, a decrease of 3.09% from the original contract amount of $376,200.00 and $49,240.00 under the total authorized budget. All work has been completed to the satisfaction of the City.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

As part of the action to accept the construction of the ARPA – Fiber to City Parks Project (#37200006 and #37200007) as complete, the City will take over the operation and maintenance of this infrastructure. Appropriate funding for the maintenance work is included in the FY 2025-26 budget under the Innovation and Technology Department, Infrastructure Division.
