RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council confirm the appointment of Commissioner Gilbert Roldan to the Planning Commission to fill the remainder of the unexpired term ending December 9, 2026.

DISCUSSION:
On June 9, 2026, the City Council made an acting appointment of Commissioner Gilbert Roldan to the Planning Commission following the resignation of Commissioner Idilio Sanchez. This action was taken pursuant to Government Code § 54974(b) to ensure the Commission maintained its ability to conduct business while the required vacancy posting period was initiated.
In accordance with Government Code § 54974, a Notice of Vacancy was posted on June 4, 2026, to satisfy the required 10-working-day posting period prior to final Council action.
The acting appointment allowed the Commission to continue operating without interruption during the statutory notice period. The required posting period has now elapsed, and the City Council may take final action to confirm the appointment.
Commissioner Gilbert Roldan has been serving in the acting capacity since June 9, 2026, and is eligible for appointment to complete the remainder of the unexpired term.
