RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
1. Approve an ABC Grant in the amount of $26,545 to increase the department’s proactive efforts of ABC education and enforcement. The funding will be used for the current employee’s salary, operation, and equipment;
2. Authorize the Chief of Police to sign the agreement between the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and the Fontana Police Department for the total amount of $26,545; and
3. Approve the expenditure plan for the use of the funds to help offset the cost of Personnel within the Police Department.
4. Increase expenditures and revenues in the amount of $26,545 in the Grant Fund #301 - ABC Grant Budget Unit #30140340.

COUNCIL GOALS:

• To improve public safety by utilizing other city programs to help reduce crime.
DISCUSSION:
The Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has awarded the Fontana Police Department a grant in the amount of $26,545.00. Funds will be used to implement Minor Decoy operations, Shoulder Tap operations, general enforcement operations, IMPACT operations, task force operations, and undercover operations at disorderly on-sale locations. Officers assigned to grant will conduct operations during off-duty hours and to be paid overtime based on policy. The grant operations will be conducted July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City of Fontana will increase revenues and expenditures in the amount of $26,545; in the ABC Grant, Budget Unit #30140340 in the Grant Fund #301. Required budget change forms will be submitted to the Budget Office and will be included during the First Quarter Budget Report.
