RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Approve the donation of one City surplus fire engine vehicle to Rotary Club of Fontana.

End

 

COUNCIL GOALS:

                     Concentrate on Inter-governmental relations by establishing partnerships and positive working relationships with other public agencies providing services to residents and local businesses.

 

DISCUSSION:

The City of Fontana is dedicated to supporting foundations in need. The Fontana Fire District would like to support the Rotary Foundation by donating one fire engine owned by the Fontana Fire District to the Rotary Club of Fontana. During a process of downsizing the District’s fleet, this vehicle was recognized as surplus and past any remaining service life. The information on the vehicle is as follows:

Rotary Club of Fontana has agreed to accept and take full ownership of the donated vehicle “as is” with no warranty or guarantees from the Fire District.

 

Given the existing need present and the desire to continually improve the District’s relationship with local foundations, it is recommended that the District donate the vehicle to the Rotary Club of Fontana.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of the donation will direct staff to transfer the property and remove the asset from the District’s records. The asset has no remaining residual value.
