Accept as complete the work performed by TELACU Construction Management, Inc. for the construction of Fire Station No. 81 Project (#37603383).

COUNCIL GOALS:
• To improve public safety by maximizing fire and emergency medical service resources.
• To invest in the City’s infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by providing for the development of new infrastructure.
DISCUSSION:
On December 14, 2021, the City Council awarded a construction contract to TELACU Construction Management, Inc. in the amount of $8,205,000.00 and authorized a contingency amount of $820,500.00 for a total contract authorization amount of $9,025,500.00 for the construction of Fire Station No. 81. Fire Station No. 81 is located at the southwest corner of Casa Grande Avenue and Montelena Road (approximately 0.2 miles west of Sierra Avenue). The new fire station was needed to improve response times in the northern area of the City.
Construction began on March 1, 2022, and the Certificate of Occupancy was issued on May 5, 2025. The project was successfully completed for the final contract amount of $7,923,570.21, a decrease of 3.43% from the original contract amount of $8,205,000.00 and $1,101,929.79 under the total authorized budget. All work has been completed to the satisfaction of the City.
FISCAL IMPACT:
As part of the action to accept the construction of Fire Station No. 81 Project (#37603383) as complete, the City will take over the maintenance as defined in the agreements between the City of Fontana Fire Protection Agency and San Bernardino County Fire Department. Appropriate funding for the maintenance is included in the FY 2025-26 budget under the Public Works & Engineering Department, Support Services Division.
