RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
1. Accept as complete the work performed by Kana Pipeline for the construction of the Redwood Sewer Project.
2. Adopt Resolution No. 2021-093, accepting the sewer in Redwood Avenue from Washington Avenue to Slover Avenue as part of the City’s Sewer System.

COUNCIL GOALS:

• To invest in the city's infrastructure (streets, sewers, parks, etc.) by providing for the development of new infrastructure.
DISCUSSION:
On July 9, 2019 the City Council approved a reimbursement agreement with Live Oak Avenue Industrial Owner L.P. for the construction of the Redwood Sewer Pipe project crossing under the I-10 Freeway Avenue from Washington Avenue to Slover Avenue. Pursuant to the agreement, the City will reimburse Live Oak Avenue Industrial Owner L.P. the amount of the actual sewer pipe improvement costs up to $1.5 million.
On February 16, 2021 the project was successfully completed. The final construction cost was $1,548,403.80 and the City’s final reimbursement amount was $1.5 million. All work has been completed to the satisfaction of the City.
Acceptance of the sewer by the City Council is required pursuant to Fontana Municipal Code, Section 26-184(b). As part of the action to accept as complete the public sewer and storm drain improvements on Redwood Avenue, these improvements will be deemed complete, and the City will take over operation of this public infrastructure.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City’s reimbursement for the sewer construction was funded with Grant Fund 301 in Project No. 3375, Redwood Ave Sewer Project.
