RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
1. Approve and authorize the City Manager to enter into Amendment No. 2 to Task Order No. 6 (DE-24-195-SQ) with TKE Engineering, Inc. for Interim Traffic Engineer services in the amount of $186,000.00, for a total task order amount of $536,000.00
2. Approve and authorize the City Manager to enter into any future amendments to Task Order No. 6 in the amount not to exceed $50,000.00.

DISCUSSION:
The Public Works/Engineering Department is currently recruiting for the Traffic Engineering Manager position, which has been difficult to fill. To address ongoing traffic engineering needs, including 311 inquiries, resident complaints, traffic operational issues, and routine engineering activities, the City requires continued support from an Interim Traffic Engineer. This position performs the duties of the City Traffic Engineer, including reviewing, approving, and signing traffic engineering plans, reports, and related documents.
On December 9, 2025, the City Council approved a $350,000 task order with TKE Engineering, Inc., selected from the City's On-Call Engineering Services List based on its qualifications, experience, and competitive hourly rates. To maintain traffic engineering services while recruitment continues, staff recommends approval of the amendment to extend the task order through June 2027 and increase the total not-to-exceed amount to $536,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact associated with the approval of this item is an increase in expenditures of $186,000.00 and is included in the FY 2026/27 current budget, account 24637507-8130.
