COUNCIL GOALS:

To concentrate on inter-governmental relations by establishing partnerships and positive working relationships with other public agencies providing services to residents.

DISCUSSION:

The City of Fontana has received a request from the Fontana Unified School District (District) for the donation of city surplus vehicles. The donated vehicles would be used by the District for their own operations. While these vehicles have met their useful life and the condition warrants their replacement in the City Fleet, the District personnel have inspected the vehicles and believe they would be of value. The District has agreed to accept the donated vehicles in an “as-is” condition with no warranty and take full and complete ownership and liability of the donated vehicles.

The following vehicles recommended for donation are listed below:

                     Unit 7091 2010 Ford F-150 (Vin # 1FTFW1CV1AFA85791)

                     Unit 7482 2014 Ford F-150 (Vin # 1FTFW1CF0EKE39791)

                     Unit 9649 2006 Honda Accord (Vin # 1HGCM66346A020200)

                     Unit 1845 2008 Ford F-250 (Vin # 1FTSX20548EC83982)

                     Unit 1794 2007 Ford F-250 (Vin # 1FTSX20527EA91717)

FISCAL IMPACT:

The City has donated surplus vehicles to the FUSD in the past, when the City doesn’t donate, vehicles are sent to auction. Each vehicle could possibly be auctioned for seven thousand ($7,000) per vehicle.  City’s potential loss of revenue could be up to $35,000.

MOTION:

Approve Staff Recommendation.
