DISCUSSION:
The following event assessments were conducted for November and December 2021
Fontana Car Show - October 1
The second Fontana Car Show took place on Friday, October 1 at the Civic Center Campus. Although attendance was a bit lower than the month before, the City still hosted a great Car Show with over 60 vehicles on display. Car enthusiasts of all ages were able to enjoy delicious food from onsite vendors and live musical entertainment from the Huge Band. Throughout the four-hour event, over 200 community members of all ages strolled through the show.
Halloween Events - October 30
The City of Fontana created a way to safely bring back the always anticipated Halloween Events and community members were not disappointed. On Saturday, October 30, from 2pm-5pm, three consecutive events were held at Fontana Park, Cypress Neighborhood Center, and Southridge Park in efforts to serve families from all over the City. Each event featured a trick or treat alley where children were able to collect candy from several community groups and organizations, along with music, and photo opportunities. Collectively, the City served nearly 4,000 children of all ages.
Relay for Life - November 6
Relay for Life Fontana Rialto took place on Saturday, November 6, at Miller Park Amphitheater. This newly formatted event went from a 24-hour team walk fundraiser to a simpler 7-hour event celebrating cancer survivors and showcasing all that the American Cancer Society provides. Guests in attendance enjoyed live stage entertainment and visited various vendor booths.
FAC Fall Swim Meet - November 13 & 14
The Fontana Aquatics Club hosted their annual Fall Swim Meet at Fontana Park Aquatic Center on the weekend of November 13 and 14. This sanctioned swim meet included teams from all over Southern California ranging in age from 5-18 years old. Over 1,000 participants enjoyed the beautiful weather throughout the two-day meet.
Eat & Be Well - November 24
The 10th Annual Eat & Be Well Event took place on Wednesday, November 24, in front of Cypress Neighborhood Center. This annual event was hosted in conjunction with Project Boon and Grocery Outlet to provide over 2,000 warm Thanksgiving-style meals to community members of all ages. In addition to the warm meals served onsite, 500 boxes filled with everything needed to host a Thanksgiving meal at home were distributed to families in need. Over 20 onsite resource vendors lined the parking lot. Free haircuts were given inside of the Cypress Neighborhood Center and live stage entertainment filled the air! This annual event continued to be a staple in the Thanksgiving season and served nearly 8,500 people.
Tree Lighting - December 2
The Annual Tree Lighting Celebration took place on Thursday, December 2 in front of Fontana City Hall. Families of all ages lined the sidewalks to enjoy the highly anticipated lighting of the tree and visit from Santa. As an added treat, all were able to enjoy a live musical performance from Fontana Tiny Tot participants and refreshments from a local bakery. This beloved event hosted over 250 and served as the perfect kick off to the holiday season.
Fontana Christmas Parade - December 11
The Annual Fontana Christmas Parade, hosted by the Exchange Club of Fontana, will take place on Saturday, December 11 at 10am. This year the parade route will start at its regular location of Sierra and Arrow but proceed along a slightly altered path to end at Miller Park so that participants can enjoy the continued holiday festivities. Parade entries will feature decorative floats, community groups, show vehicles, and more. The new parade route will travel south on Sierra, east on Orange Way, north on Mango, and end on Arrow in front of Miller Park.
Festival of Winter - December 11
Something sweet is coming to Fontana as we bring you the Annual Festival of Winter “Fontana Land.” The event will include two stages filled with entertainment, crafts, pictures with Santa, attractions, food and novelty vendors, and over 50 tons of fresh snow to enjoy in two snow areas.
